An installation project exploring self-construction through fictional heroes and emotional landscapes
Heroes is an installation project developed through large-scale collages exploring movement, emotional transition, and everyday forms of survival.
Created during a period marked by adaptation, loss, displacement, and homecoming, the work constructs fictional and symbolic characters situated between autobiographical experience and imagined narration. The “heroes” of the title are not extraordinary figures, but everyday protagonists navigating fragile emotional and social situations through persistence, transformation, and improvisation.
The project approaches collage as a way of introducing movement into still images, allowing fragmented scenes and figures to appear suspended between cinematic narration and emotional projection.
Developed in parallel to the films later gathered under Fragile Narratives, the work marks an early moment in which autobiographical material begins to expand from animation into spatial and installation-based forms.
Process
The project emerged through experiments in large-scale collage and spatial composition.
Using cut-out imagery, drawing, and layered visual fragments, the artist developed scenes that attempted to translate movement and emotional transformation into static form. Rather than constructing fixed narratives, the collages function as suspended moments charged with tension, transition, and symbolic projection.
The work reflects an autobiographical moment of geographical and emotional displacement, in which experiences of adaptation, instability, and return are transformed into fictional visual environments populated by fragile and ordinary “heroes.”
Through collage, still images become unstable narrative spaces oscillating between cinema, memory, and emotional reconstruction.
Forms Large-scale collages — installation-based compositions combining fragmented imagery, drawing, and symbolic characters to construct emotional and fictional environments Spatial installation — an arrangement of collages functioning as an immersive narrative landscape between cinema, memory, and autobiographical projection
These forms operate together as transitional image environments in which movement and emotional transformation are translated into static visual structures.
Context
The project was developed during the artist’s first exhibition period in Barcelona and presented in two self-organised artist-run spaces: Casa-Galeria-Taller and Navas.
Developed in parallel to the early stop-motion films later gathered under Fragile Narratives, Heroes marks one of the artist’s first transitions from cinematic narration into spatial installation practices.
